I like to shoot the wildflowers in the Texas Hill Country. Butterflies like the wildflowers as well. I try to keep a macro lens handy when such an occasion presents itself. You will notice some of the beautiful butterflies look like they have been beat up a bit. They fly long distances to get to my camera lens from their winter homes in Mexico. The best time of day to photograph butterflies is early in the morning if the temperature is below 60F..
They will sit on a flower with their wings spread soaking up the sun rays for energy.
