Solar Impulse
A New Solar Aviation World Distance Record Was Set By Solar Impulse May 24, 2013 when it landed completing a flight from Phoenix, AZ to DFW airport. The distance was 832 Nautical Miles and the flight time was 18 hours 21 minutes. This leg was flown by André Borschberg. André also serves as CEO. The next leg from DFW to St. Louis will be flown by the other pilot, Bertrand Piccard, who also serves as chairman. This was the 3rd leg of a 5 leg mission across America. From St. Louis they will go to Washington DC, Dulles Airport. The last leg will be flown to New York Kennedy Airport. In Dallas they held an open house for folks that took the time to sign up on line and go to the airport. It was very well organized and worth the time to witness history. I am encouraging you to follow this project at http://solarimpulse.com/ Being 208 ft Wide and in a narrow tent, It was impossible to get a wide shot from wing tip to wing tip.
